Do Not Delay. Florida abortion law allows you ONLY up to TWO weeks after you’ve missed your period to get an abortion in Florida.
- We do not have a wait list. Call us (954) 720-7777 today for an immediate appointment.
- The state of Florida requires a waiting period. This means you may have to schedule one appointment for a counseling session, then wait 24-hours before having your scheduled abortion.
- The abortion pill is a SAFE and EFFECTIVE alternative to surgical abortions.
Since the FDA’s approval in 2000, the abortion pill has also been widely used in the United States. At Michael Benjamin’s office have been using the abortion pill (medicine abortion) since then with very satisfactory results.
Benefits
- Early Abortion (up to the 6th week of pregnancy)
- May involve a longer process and increased pain, but it’s ideal for women whose priority is privacy, autonomy, or the comforts of their own home.
We provide a preliminary screening including a pelvic ultrasound to insure that the stage and location of the pregnancy. Florida law requires a person to have two appointments at least 24-hours apart to obtain an abortion.
- The first visit will include lab work, ultrasound, education and options information, and a meeting with a physician to discuss the abortion procedure.
- The second visit will include receiving the first pill to begin the medication abortion.
We provide a second drug, as well as pain medication of choice with instructions for use at home. We include a 2 week follow-up visit to insure that the procedure is complete.
How the Abortion Pill Works
Once the medication is absorbed into they system, blocks the “hormone of pregnancy”. This is the hormone that maintains the lining membrane of the uterus. Once deprived this hormone, the membrane disintegrates and the pregnancy detaches. The pregnancy will naturally miscarry if further action doesn’t take place.
This may not occur, however, for many days. To hasten the process, we have chosen to administer a drug that is well established as a safe and effective method of contracting the uterus. When taken 6 hours after the first medication, it rapidly and reliably causes the uterus to contract resulting in miscarriage.
Results
In our experience, this process has been approximately 95-97% effective in terminating pregnancy when used between the 4th and 10th week of pregnancy.
For the small percentage of failure to terminate the pregnancy, surgical termination is strongly recommended and is provided at an additional charge.
An additional 1% of patients will require D&C to remove tissue not completely expelled in the process of miscarriage. In general, we have found a high percentage of satisfaction in well selected patients who choose the recommended option.
